Ghosts
deadsnaketree: I recently started calling my parents by their first names it occurred right about the time I stopped saying grace at the table instead I just bow my head and silently respect popular delusions It’s a symptom of an illness that I have you have it to this illness is gripping my generation like a heavy weight champion strangling his affinity for high heeled shoes and feeling...

New poem
January January there are already parts of you I have forgotten, half-coated in the froth of celebration. Perhaps as the heat of the room plucks the liquid out of you the floor is less possibility and more coming back to earth. But the stain is there. The hardwood will not last as long as it otherwise might, and there is the warp, the way this house will be Pisa-leaned within a...

The GOP's New Abortion Agenda
kungfucarrie: moreapologies: The GOP’s New Abortion Agenda rosietint: If you thought the abortion battle during the health care debate was fierce, just wait until Republicans take over the House in January. Strengthened by congressional victories in the midterm elections, Republican abortion foes plan to push hard in the new year. Their top goals: enshrine tough restrictions on...

I find it really interesting, in a cynical-actually-not-interesting sort of way, how the argument has been made, and the discussion formed around the idea of taxing and/or increasing costs of health care providers because they also supply plans that include abortion. More specifically, I’m “interested” in how this can happen without it being seen as a blatant discriminatory move...

A serious question
Is it wrong to support the use of violence against oppressive groups/individuals? I’ve been struggling with this notion, especially within the scope of activism. Certainly there is a moral victory to not stooping to this level, or however it is viewed, but I also wonder if people would be less likely to treat people and groups certain ways if they knew they might get their jaw broken.

The Dinner
I may as well post this since my final lines are getting such nice press. Thanks everyone! The Dinner I The neural pathways between head and mouth are a game of telephone. Clarity of purpose, simplicity in the expression of in-depth conceptual truths, word choice, all, a maelstrom from which only vagaries and endless second chances have emerged. I know exactly how I feel about...

Thoughts on "It Gets Better"
In response to a person who alleged that people who took issue with the campaign “[are not] understanding the point.” I’m gonna jump in on this one. The idea behind the campaign is noble. Thank goodness someone is saying something. But the way it is being handled is problematic. When you have people just assuring you that it gets better, there is the surface level of the...

raptorinside: loveyourchaos: People who commit suicide don’t do so because they’re straight. Everyone who is complaining about the awareness being brought after this string of suicides and making comments like “when are we going to have straight suicide awareness day,” I can’t tell you how offensive I find this.  The awareness day isn’t meant to bring awareness to suicides caused by bullying...
