People who commit suicide don’t do so because they’re straight.
Everyone who is complaining about the awareness being brought after this string of suicides and making comments like “when are we going to have straight suicide awareness day,” I can’t tell you how offensive I find this. The awareness day isn’t meant to bring awareness to suicides caused by bullying due to homosexuality and overshadow every other suicide that has taken place- this is a specific cause of suicide that can be helped with education. Saying things like that are the equivalent of saying “Why are we having pancreatic cancer awareness day tomorrow?! Are you saying that breast cancer doesn’t matter,” to me it is completely illogical.

I’ve heard similar arguments to this during Pride Parades, “what would happen if we had a straight pride parade?” Life is a straight pride parade, you have first class rights - we don’t. I’ve received multiple comments saying, “I know you’re gay but why do you have to talk about it all the time?” I don’t bring it up out of nowhere, but I would like you to realize that you will never get an question in your ask box trying to use skewed biology and psuedoscience to convince you that your love or attractions are wrong… that you are wrong. You rarely if ever have to defend your sexuality. People have asked me why people feel the need to write their sexuality in their profiles, while straight people don’t do that. It is because unless you specify you are typically assumed to be straight and people are proud of who they are.

This is just my opinion.
